Here are a few ways that you can gradually make saving a habit and incorporate it into your daily life.

1. Stop making yourself feel poor. Stop window shopping at the mall or online.  Shopping and not buying can make you feel broke, even though that may not really be the case.  Instead of doing activities that make you feel the need to spend money, do things that offer a sense of well-being: invite friends over, walk in the park, etc.

2. Retrain your brain. Reprogram yourself to look for long-term benefits instead of short-term gains.  When you get the urge to splurge money on yourself, visualize a paying off your credit-card bill or contributing to a high-yield savings account.

3. Look around you. Are you happy with what your hard-earned dollars bought? If not, shift your spending to those things that bring greater long-term satisfaction, including retirement savings.

Consumers are wanting to become more and more involved in how the items they purchase look. Those wanting to start there own business should take not of these few entrepreneurs who are taking that concept to another level.

Launched in Connecticut earlier this year, Elemental Threads (eThreads) gives consumers more than 60,000 ways to design their own custom-made handbags. The process begins when a customer chooses from among eight available handbag styles, including pouches, clutches and totes. They then select from among dozens of limited-quantity fabrics, previewing the look of their bag with each choice. Next they pick coordinating zippers, linings, and hardware, and the design is complete. All bags are then handcrafted by Emily, the company's founder, and delivered to the customer's door. Pricing ranges from USD 14 for a small pouch to USD 75 for a large tote bag. Both domestic and international shipping is available.

Founded in February 2007, Studio 28 focuses on dresses that have vintage appeal. Customers begin by selecting a bodice style for their dress, followed by the skirt style. They can then choose from more than 100 fabrics and trims, including many antique-style florals and prints. The resulting dresses are made individually in the U.S.A. by Studio 28’s seamstresses from 100% cotton fabric, and each dress's USD 200 price includes one free alteration. Those unsure of what they want can send Studio 28 a full-length photo of themselves, and the company's advisors will offer suggestions on the most flattering styles and colours. Studio 28 also sells a selection of its dresses through retailers near its Pittsford, N.Y., offices.

Rihanna will be making her acting debut alongside acting veteran Mos Def in the upcoming drama Mama Black Widow. Mama Black Widow is the portrait of a black family's migration from the southern Mississippi fields of the segregated south to the ghettoized black underworld of Chicago during the 1930's. The story follows Otis Tilson's struggle to keep his family together as they navigate through a world of alcoholism, pimping, sexual deviation and racial degradation. Told in the gut level language of the original novel by Iceberg Slim, the family's journey is a harsh testament of lives lived on the margins of a racist and predatory world. Anthony Anderson and Kerry Washington will also be in the film.

At last week's BET Awards press conference, Lil Wayne told the press that he is currently in talks to appear in The Fast & The Furious 4 which stars the original cast of Paul Walker, Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez.

Singing/rapper Wyclef Jean has launched a food relief program to help residents in his native country of Haiti, where many residents are suffering a food shortage. According to reports, farmers are failing to produce enough crops to feed the population, in turn causing food prices to soar. Many people are reportedly facing starvation.

Jean has launched the Together for Haiti initiative via his charity organization Yéle Haiti, which has teamed with the World Food Program (WFP) and the Pan American Development Foundation (PADF). The program will work with a number of non-government organizations and community groups to address the food crisis by repairing damaged soil and using other methods to help farmers to produce larger crops.
